ISSUE 73: TEXAS JAZZ

The Magazine
From the Depression-era blues of the Southwestern territory bands, through upbeat small-group swing to the post-war exuberance of the hard-blowing Texas tenors, the musicians of the Lone Star State have blazed some of the most famous trails in jazz.

The Music
The sheer variety of Texas jazz is encapsulated in a compilation ranging from such famous names as Jack Teagarden, Charlie Christian and 'Hot Lips' Page to obscure but vital figures such as Buster Smith, Don Albert and Boots & His Buddies.
