ISSUE 72: TEDDY WILSON

The Magazine
The elegant pianist Teddy Wilson, one of the most influential musicians of his time, came to fame through his long association with Benny Goodman. Groups under his leadership accompanied the leading singers of the 1930s, and he also formed an impressive big band.

The Music
In a multi-faceted survey of his work, Teddy Wilson is heard as a soloist, in his own small groups and others led by Benny Goodman, leading his own stylish big band and accompanying Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and other star singers of the period.
