The Magazine
By the age of 13, Benny Goodman was already playing professionally and had earned a reputation as a notoriously hard taskmaster. He was one of the most gifted clarinetists of all time and one of the few successful white bandleaders to integrate black musicians into his band.
The Music
Known as the 'King of Swing' - and for good reason - Goodman introduced a new dance beat to the American youth. His orchestra performed with tireless momentum and drive, as you can hear on this collection which includes 'Sing, Sing, Sing' and 'Clarinet A La King'.
