ISSUE 52: VENUTI & LANG

The Magazine
The music of violinist Joe Venuti and guitarist Eddie Lang was the effervescent soundtrack of 'the best of times', the roaring, decadent American 1920s of roadsters, hip-flasks, bobbed-haired flappers and youths draped in raccoon coats.

The Music
The virtuoso solos of Venuti and Lang gleam like jewels sparkling in small-group settings or couched in orchestral plush. Hear them go to town on 'After You've Gone', 'Hot Heels' and 'Jig Saw Puzzle Blues', egged on by The Dorsey Brothers, Jack Teagarden and Benny Goodman.
