ISSUE 10: BIX BEIDERBECKE

The Magazine
A child prodigy, Bix Beiderbecke had harmony in his soul. Sadly, the harmony was only musical. A teenage alcoholic, he died before he was aged 30, and his fame rests on a career that spanned just over five years. But in that brief time he became a major force in the evolution of jazz.

The Music
Cornettist, trumpeter, pianist and composer, Bix Beiderbecke became the first great white jazz musician and created a unique sound and style that still rings out, clear and true, more than 70 years after his death. Tracks include 'Singin' The Blues', 'Riverboat Shuffle' and 'Clementine'.
